Ciascuno dei sei volumi fa parte di un’edizione limitata a 725 copie, stampato per la prestigiosa casa editrice londinese Ernest Benn, Ltd. su carta modellata di Van Gelder e rilegato in uno stile unico utilizzando tela nera al dorso, tela di seta gialla, con titoli in oro su pelle.

George Eumorfopoulos (1863-1939) era un uomo d’affari i cui interessi in Oriente gli permisero di costruire una straordinaria collezione di arte orientale, gran parte della quale alla fine trovò casa nel British Museum. R. L. Hobson, custode del dipartimento di ceramica ed etnografia del British Museum, è riuscito a catturare la bellezza e la grandezza della collezione producendo una serie di libri pari alla collezione.

*Aaron Vecht (1886-1965) era il proprietario della Galleria d’arte A. Vecht ad Amsterdam. Il nipote Constant Vecht, è il nipote di Aaron Vecht, ed è l’attuale direttore della Kunstzalen A. Vecht. e fu fondata da Aäron Vecht intorno al 1910. La galleria era composta da più stanze, le “zalen”, dove il signor Vecht ospitava un’ampia gamma di opere d’arte; Oggetti di ceramica olandese, vetri antichi, ma anche arte asiatica e dipinti moderni. Ora la terza generazione è al comando e mantiene il concetto originale della galleria: acquistare e vendere opere d’arte importanti, rare o semplicemente belle di tutte le epoche e di tutti i continenti.

A stunning six volume set illustrating the objet d’art of one of the premier collectors of Oriental antiquities. First Edition – Limited edition of which each volume in this set is hand-numbered 329, original black and gold textured cloth, numerous photographic plates.

Good condition, defects on the spine of the second volume.

Each of the six elephant folio (12.25″ x 18.25″) volumes was limited to 725 copies, printed for the prestigious London publishing house of Ernest Benn, Ltd. on Van Gelder mold-made paper, and bound in a unique style using black cloth for the spine, yellow silk fabric on the boards with gilt titles on leather labels.

George Eumorfopoulos (1863-1939) was a businessman whose interests in the East enabled him to build a stunning collection of Oriental art, much of which ultimately found a home in the British Museum. R. L. Hobson, keeper of the department of ceramics and ethnography at the British Museum, was able to capture the beauty and magnitude of the collection by producing a set of books equal to the collection.

*Aaron Vecht (1886-1965) was the owner of Art Gallery A. Vecht in Amsterdam.

The gradson Constant Vecht is the Aaron Vecht’s grandson, and he is the actual director of Kunstzalen A. Vecht. Kunstzalen A. Vecht was founded by Aäron Vecht around 1910. The gallery consisted of more rooms, the ‘zalen’, where Mr. Vecht housed a broad range of art; Delftware, old glass, but also Asian art and modern paintings. Now the third generation is in charge and sticks to the original concept of the gallery: buying and selling important or rare or just beautiful works of art from all periods and all continents.
